[Qgis-user] QGIS Newbie - config.sub

i have successfully installed: Proj4, GEOS, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, SQLite3, GDAL/OGR, GRASS, GDAL-GRASS and QT4 in that order according to the instructions in the QGIS UserGuide.

i am running into trouble actually installing QGIS. firstly i had to figure out to run the following: aclocal, automake and then autoconf in order to create the configure script.

but ./configure fails with the following error:

"cannot run /bin/sh ./config.sub"

i've checked ./ and there is no config.sub file...

please help! i've read the UserGuide, Install guide and searched this list archives... so i really am genuinely stuck!
